Discover the generative AI tools that are proving most popular right now

The most popular generative AI tools attract millions of users worldwide every day.Photography Generated by OpenAI's DALL·E / ETX Majelan© While ChatGPT overwhelmingly dominates the list of the most popular generative artificial intelligence tools in the consumer market, a number of newcomers are emerging from the pack, as shown by a ranking published by US venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Since its launch at the end of 2022, ChatPT has brought in its wake hundreds of increasingly popular generative AI tools. Indeed, it can now be a challenge to stand out in the mass of new tools on offer to internet users.

Unsurprisingly, ChatGPT is by far the most popular generative AI tool on the planet. Open AI's web platform is said to record almost two billion visits every month, almost five times more than its most direct competitor, Gemini. Character.AI completes the podium of the most popular generative AIs for consumers.

In terms of productivity, a number of tools now enable users to delegate mundane tasks, starting with newcomer Liner (4th), which features a host of practical tools capable of summarizing any written document or even a YouTube video, searching for information in a PDF or assisting in writing texts. Other notable newcomers in the ranking are JanitorAI (8th), which lets users create and manage fictional chatbot characters, and the AI assistant Claude (10th).

Even today, many generative AI tools are only accessible via Discord, which makes them far trickier for the general public to approach and apprehend. But that doesn't stop certain applications from attracting millions of fans, starting with Midjourney (14th).

Note the recent arrival of a generative AI dedicated to music, called Suno (36th). This tool is capable of automatically generating original songs from a simple written request, and it seems to be winning over more and more internet users.

To establish its ranking, the American venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz used data provided by SimilarWeb, as of January 2024. This shows that over 40% of the companies on the list are new, compared with a previous report published just six months ago.
