On Jul. 8, T1 announced that Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong resigned from the head coach position and depart from T1. According to T1, Bengi requested to resign after the end of Round 1, taking responsibility for the poor performance.

Through their announcement, T1 said, “We honor and respect his decision, and we express our sincerest appreciation for his contributions and service to T1 during his tenure,” and that “he will always be a part of our family.” 
Bengi won three world championships as the jungler of T1 in 2013, 2015, and 2016. After retirement, Bengi went on to fulfill his military duty, and returned as a coach in 2020. He spent a year coaching T1’s Challengers team, and served as the interim head coach for Worlds 2022. At the end of 2022, Bengi was officially named the head coach, but his tenure didn’t last a year.
T1 will go through the rest of the year with Lim “Tom” Jae-hyeon as the interim head coach. T1 mentioned that “Tom will guide the team during this time of change and that his leadership will continue to foster unity and resilience.”
Up to now, T1 has been rather struggling in the 2023 LCK Summer Split, with a 6-3 record in 3rd place. Recently, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok appealed that his arm hurts, and T1 announced that he will be sitting out for at least two weeks. T1 will play their next match this day, against Gen.G.
