We spoke to influencer and talent manager Moe Jabri about skydiving and why he loves chasing the thrill of freefall.
A common sight around Dubai Marina is the colourful parachutes of skydivers floating back down – but what is it like to be under one of those parachutes? We spoke to Dubai influencer and talent manager Moe Jabri to find out why he loves skydiving.
“I love anything that pumps my adrenaline. Dune buggies, bungee jumps, anything crazy...and I did BMX and aggressive skating when I was younger. But nothing else was satisfying my need for adrenaline. You get to the point where it’s like, what’s next? And that was skydiving – I’d always seen people jumping out of the sky, and thought, hold on, you can do that? So I did it,” says Moe.
His first skydive two years ago was “exhilarating, incredible”. He jumped with Skydive Dubai at its Dubai Marina base, going with a tandem jump, which requires no skydiving experience. When jumping with Skydive Dubai, there’s also someone with a camera filming the whole jump, so you can watch your experience later and share it with others.
“The first 30 seconds of the drop, you don’t see anything, you just feel the adrenaline pumping. And then just floating there with the parachute, looking down at the city below, at Palm Jumeirah, with this bird’s eye view...it was surreal,” says Moe.
While Moe says he didn’t feel any fear at the jump, the same was definitely not true of his partner Juliah. Moe surprised her with a skydiving experience for her birthday and even though she was panicking, the Skydive Dubai staff handled it well: “They comforted her and told her not to worry as they are all trained professionals. They did it in a really nice way. She did the jump and afterwards said, wow, I want to go again!”

Skydive Dubai lets you freefall from two dropzones – Dubai Marina and the desert – which means you can swap out views of Palm Jumeirah for rolling sand dunes.
Tandem jumps are very popular, so you’ll have to plan ahead and book a session as early as a month or three in advance. If you’re feeling lucky, there’s also a waiting list option at both dropzones, so show up early and put your name down in case there are last-minute cancellations.
It’s become a must-try experience while in Dubai, with many celebrities adding it to their Dubai itinerary, including Will Smith, Rita Ora, Bella Hadid, Michelle Rodriguez and Akon to name just a few.
What to expect at Skydive Dubai
Once you arrive at the centre, you’ll be given a comprehensive briefing, go through a safety check and have your photos taken, along with a short video interview on camera. Expect a wait time of at least three hours before you’re ready to board the aircraft along with your instructor and videographer. Then it’s time to take off and count down to the final moment – all tandem jumps take place when the plane reaches an altitude of 13,000 feet (4,000m).
If you're not feeling brave enough to skydive yet, you can still take in scenic aerial views with Skydive Dubai's gyrocopter flight experience. The gyrocopter – a two-seat aircraft – flies at around 500m high with picturesque cityscapes unfolding below, and there are a range of routes to choose from.
