AirlineRatings.com has released its “World’s Best Airlines for 2026,” highlighting the continued dominance of Asian and Middle Eastern carriers in the global aviation industry.

In the full-service carrier (FSC) category, Qatar Airways ranked first, followed by Cathay Pacific in second and Singapore Airlines in third. Korean Air secured fourth place.

In other categories, Lufthansa topped the hybrid airline segment, while HK Express was named the best low-cost carrier (LCC).

Several other airlines—including STARLUX Airlines, Japan Airlines, and Turkish Airlines—also ranked among the top 10, with a majority of the list dominated by carriers based in Asia and the Middle East.

Clear Strengths Across Cabin Classes

The rankings also highlighted distinct strengths by cabin class.

In economy class, Air New Zealand took first place with its innovative “Skycouch,” which allows a row of seats on Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft to convert into a 1.55-meter flat surface.

Korean Air tied for second place with Singapore Airlines, recognized for maintaining a seat pitch of 33–34 inches on long-haul routes—contrary to the global trend of increasing seat density.

In premium economy, Emirates and Qantas shared first place, offering 96 cm seat pitch and business-class-level services.

Business class honors went to Cathay Pacific’s “Aria Suite,” featuring practical innovations such as 4K displays with automatic brightness adjustment and wireless charging.

For first class, Singapore Airlines retained the top spot for the second consecutive year, praised for its separate bed-and-seat layout and pre-order dining service.Virgin Australia Wins Best Cabin Crew Award for the 8th Time / Virgin Australia

Service and Facilities Awards

In additional categories, Virgin Australia won the best cabin crew award for the eighth consecutive year.

Turkish Airlines was recognized for best in-flight catering, thanks to its partnership with Do&Co, delivering restaurant-quality meals across all cabin classes.

Cathay Pacific was named best for airport lounges, offering premium dining options including à la carte menus, wood-fired pizza, and tea house experiences.

Qantas ranked first in domestic service, while Vietnam Airlines was awarded best value for both premium economy and business class, praised for balancing lie-flat seats with competitive pricing.

Asian Airports Dominate Global Rankings

A similar trend was seen in airport rankings.

In Skytrax’s “World’s Best Airports 2026,” Singapore Changi Airport retained the top position, followed by Incheon International Airport in second place.

The rest of the top five were also dominated by Asian airports: Haneda (3rd), Hong Kong International Airport (4th), and Narita (5th).

Incheon Airport received high marks for transfer convenience, operational efficiency, and overall service quality.

Asia’s Growing Influence in Global Aviation

The latest rankings underscore the growing influence of Asia in global aviation.

With a majority of top airlines and all the top five airports located in Asia, the region continues to set benchmarks for service, innovation, and passenger experience.

Korean Air and Incheon International Airport’s strong performance further highlights South Korea’s competitiveness in aviation infrastructure and global travel services.
