2026 LCK Cup Media Day: Coaches Say New Coach Comms Feature Likely Won’t Have Major Impact
by Inven Global
On the 7th, the 2026 LCK Cup Media Day was held at CHZZK LoL Park in Jongno. At the event, the head coaches of the LCK’s 10 teams who attended shared their thoughts on Coach Comms, newly introduced for this LCK Cup.
Coach Comms is a system that allows coaching staff to communicate with players in real time during a match. It can be used up to three times per set, for 45 seconds per use, and up to two members of the coaching staff registered on the roster can participate. However, coaching staff participating in Coach Comms must remain in a designated area during the match, and during that time, they are only allowed to see the same in-game vision as the players.
Most head coaches viewed the new initiative positively as an experiment, but assessed that it likely would not have a major impact on the game in practice.
Gen.G head coach Ryu Sang-wook said, “I don’t think it will have a big impact, and it’ll probably play out similarly (to before),” and T1 head coach Kim Jeong-gyun and BRION head coach Kim Sang-su agreed. Nongshim RedForce head coach Choi In-gyu commented, “I think it adds one more interesting element to watching the game.”
DN SOOPers head coach Joo Young-dal offered a positive take, saying, “Since it’s a new attempt, I view it positively. We won’t know until we try it, but when it comes to mental care, it could end up being very helpful.” In contrast, Hanwha Life Esports head coach Yoon Seong-young expressed concern that it could instead disrupt players’ focus.
Dplus KIA head coach Kim Dae-ho said, “I’m positive about trying something new, but we’ll have to see whether it will be effective,” while kt Rolster head coach Go Dong-bin added, “We’ll have to go through the tournament to know. Whether it’ll be practical is an open question.”
BNK FearX head coach Park Jun-seok said, “There won’t be a big change, but when players are in a rush, it seems like it could at least help with some coordination.” DRX head coach Cho Jae-eup also replied, “If it’s used well, it won’t become a negative.”
