Riot Games has rolled out its latest Dev Update video for League of Legends, detailing a slate of Season 2 Act 2 content set to arrive in the coming weeks. During the presentation, Paul “Pabro” Bellezza, Brett “Frost” Freeman, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison and Drew “justacapybara” Levin outlined a new Spirit Blossom-themed map for ARAM, the introduction of champion Yunara and several in-client meta-games designed to expand how players interact with the client and the game itself.

Among the ARAM changes is Koeshin’s Crossing, a twist on the Spirit Blossom aesthetic that will join the returning fan favorite Butcher’s Bridge and the classic Howling Abyss in the map rotation. Players loading into ARAM will now be matched into one of the three maps at random, each featuring subtle layout tweaks meant to keep combat encounters feeling fresh.
To reduce reliance on the ARAM re-roll system, Riot is trialing Champion Cards as an alternative. In Champion Select, each player receives two cards to pick from; unchosen cards move to a bench that teammates can later select from, injecting a layer of strategic choice into pre-game picks without altering core ARAM flow.
Yunara, a traditionally styled auto-attack ADC, is slated for release alongside a standalone 2.5D side-scrolling beat-’em-up meta-game starring Yunara and Xin Zhao. This mini-game operates independently of regular League matches, while a spiritual successor to Spirit Bonds will let players befriend spirits and advance through gameplay in Summoner’s Rift or ARAM. Riot intends to continue experimenting with meta-game formats, exploring varied genres and pacing.
On the sportsmanship front, updates to the inting and griefing detection system—which now boasts a 99.95 percent accuracy rate—will roll out harsher penalties for repeat offenders, with high-skill players held to a stricter standard and chronic disruptors diverted into aggressive Ranked queues. Riot is also evaluating an auto-termination feature for games marred by extreme behavior, alongside planned Honor system refinements.
Looking ahead, the Mid-Season Invitational kicks off June 27, featuring Pick Ems for the first time. Skins used by the MSI Finals champion squad will go on sale the following week, and a throwback-style Viktor skin is on the roadmap for later this year.
