5 best mid champions in League of Legends patch 25.08

by Inven Global

League of Legends patch 25.08 is here, and this game update spiced up the mid-lane meta with new faces. It's always nice to see new names make it into the LoL trends since they offer variety and also new opportunities to outplay opponents.

Similarly to our previous lists for League of Legends, mobility remains the name of the game. Champions that can move around the map fast and catch others off guard still remain at the top of the meta pyramid. This only makes sense because overwhelming the enemy team with sheer numbers can push opponents to make mistakes.

A few successful ganks or simply owning your lane could help you snowball in the game, and the following mid-lane champions do it better than others.

Zoe

Zoe has been clawing her way back into the meta. The last few patches have been kind to the mage, and League patch 25.08 removed the secondary damage falloff from her Q. The main reason why Zoe struggled until now has mainly been because there have always been champions that did everything she could better.

Zoe's pick-off potential and ability to delay/extend teamfights make her a valuable asset to team compositions that love playing it slow. The mage averages more than a 54 percent win rate in tiers above Diamond.

Taliyah

Taliyah is one of the most fun LoL champions to play. The mage's popularity has also surged lately, and Taliyah owes most of her success to her late-game scaling potential. Late game Taliyah turns into a burst mage that can also control crowds.

At the time of writing, the level of utility that Taliyah brings to the table is almost unmatched, and a decent Taliyah in your team can even attempt to solo carry the game. Taliyah averages above a 54 percent win rate, with her pick rates exceeding the 5 percent mark in Master and Grandmaster ELOs worldwide.

Ahri

Ahri continues to be a staple part of the current meta. The latest patch included some noticeable nerf to Ahri, but they weren't quite enough to keep the champion down. Ahri's pick rate exceeds 10 percent in most tiers and regions, while her win rate is around 50 percent in most tiers.

While Ahri certainly falls off with a few more nerfs, the champion owes her spot to a mobility-filled kit that also comeswith a high pick-off potential with great CC.

Orianna

Orianna caught our eye while we were checking the statistics for the Korean region. This crowd-controlling mage averages an above 11 percent pick rate in multiple skill divisions, while her win rate looks to be around 50 percent.

While Orianna isn't blatantly overpowered, she's one of the most useful champions in LoL. From nukes to one of the best crowd-controlling ultimates, Orianna's kit is full of utility, and she's practically a welcomed addition to any kind of lineup.

Sylas

Sylas is another champion who continues to retain their spot as one of the best mid champions in LoL. The champion hasn't received major changes recently, and he continues to average a pick rate of nearly 13 percent in Master+ tiers with a win rate of above 51 percent.

Sylas's fast wave-clearing potential and his ability to help out other lanes make him a great ally. If you have a Sylas main in your team, you can try enabling them so they can potentially snowball the game.

While you can easily pick one of these heroes in one of your ranked matches, things may not be easier for players doing Fearless Draft in League of Legends. This mode practically bans OP heroes after they're picked and played in a match to add more variety to the game.
