PUBG Mobile Launches 'Play for Green' Campaign to Fight Climate Change

by Inven Global

PUBG Mobile has unveiled a new initiative, "Play for Green," aimed at raising environmental awareness and supporting real-world conservation efforts. Launched as part of the Green Game Jam, organized by Playing for the Planet, the campaign introduces new in-game content and encourages players to take climate action.

The campaign features two new maps, Ruins of Erangel: Sandstorm and Ruins of Erangel: Exploration, which are based on scientific data predicting the impact of climate change over the next century. Players can experience a post-climate-change world filled with sandstorms and dwindling resources, as well as explore a narrative-driven map that highlights the environmental challenges faced by Erangel.

A key component of the campaign is the "Run for Green" event, running from September 11 to 24, which translates players' in-game movements into support for real-world environmental projects. Players can contribute to protecting over 350,000 square meters of land in Brazil, Indonesia, and Pakistan by achieving milestones in-game.

In addition to these features, PUBG Mobile has launched the World of Wonder Green Creative Contest, inviting players to create themed maps that envision a greener future. Winning entries will receive a share of a $12,500 prize pool and be showcased in-game.

PUBG Mobile’s "Play for Green" campaign also includes the Global Action Challenge, encouraging players to share their local environmental efforts on social media for a chance to win in-game rewards.

"Through the 'Play for Green' campaign, we're using the power of gaming to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: climate change," said Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG Mobile Publishing at Tencent Games.

The campaign demonstrates PUBG Mobile's commitment to combining entertainment with environmental responsibility, inspiring players to take action both in-game and in the real world.
